Consider Us Even is a mystery novel by Kanika Gupta, published in October 2010 by Frog Books.
It was an interesting read. Got a little slow in the middle though. The main character Nirbhay is smart and impressive. But something I realized is that even though Kabir is the bad guy, he has some likable traits too. Nobody is completely black or white. There are shades of gray, which is how it is in real life. Definitely worth a read.
Hi. I really enjoyed reading the book, especially the sudden twists and turns. Took me by surprise! Woudl recommend this book. Good job.
While reading Consider Us Even i found myself wondering what I would do if I received an anonymous letter with a stock market tip on it (I know wishful thinking!!). It was something I hadn't thought about before. Overall, a very interesting read, I would suggest it ot everyone interested in money and the stock market.
A very good first effort. I was however drawn to the similarity between Jeffery Archer's first novel 'Not a Penny more Not a Penny less' and 'Consider Us Even'(incidently kanika's first). Do we have another archer in making.
I have read the book. It is excellently written and is worth reading. I rate it as an excellent work by a rookie Indian amateur writer. I recommend this books to all Indian readers who are interested in reading good Indian works. Well done Kanika, keep it up!
Hi Kanika! My friend Vivek wants to post a comment but before that he wanted me to post my comment on your book.I finished reading your book about a fortnight ago.Wow! It is a fantastic work of fiction writing.I am sure you must be working on your next book and I am really looking forward to that one!
Read the book and between the lines. What a great lesson for those looking to make a quick buck! Attempt to make a fast money can be dangerous whatever the motive behind, especially when the lead is from an anonymous letter. But the way this great idea was woven into a plot and subsequently unraveled to a logical conclusion shows the mastery over the writing skills. The thought process is coherent and the expression classic. The book is a mirror to the modern society ….covers issues like shares buying mania ,introduces the modern gadgets, the club culture, the social breakdowns with ethical bankruptcy(son Ravi overthrows his father Deepak Durbari to wrest control of the company) and yet the victory of the genuine(Nirbhay et al) over the fake(Kabir).Characters are consistent in behavior. Especially that of Nirbhay gets imprinted on the mind of the reader as a lovable creation. Over all an impressive reading. Especially the young generation will definitely enjoy it. The writer is destined to go a long way, in the times to come.
Reading this novel may akin to getting wounded by a sharp knife. The knife has coldness- but when you feel it, you know that it is scorching coldness. Likewise, ‘Consider Us Even’ opens its windows with a cold expression, but you will soon realize that despite the coldness, you have already trapped into the novel. The narrative is praiseworthy, and Kanika often coins interesting adjectives which reflects her meticulous observation. Not that the novel is entirely devoid of negatives. Some areas in the novel are not as beautiful as Kanika’s smile. But, regardless of these ignorable flaws, the novel is a gripping one. If she moves along, she can carve a place for her in the Indian English writing field- a place that nobody can deny.
Chapter 1 has drawn me to buy the book, I am expecting a good reading experiance further, will be back to provide a feedback on the the entire book......
